What is HubSpot AEO?
AEO stands for answer engine optimization. It means getting AI tools to mention your business when someone asks a question you should be the answer to. HubSpot sells a tool for this, also called AEO. HubSpot still labels it beta.
The tool gives your brand a visibility score. It tracks a set of buyer questions, which HubSpot calls prompts, in ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. It shows which websites those AI tools quote when they answer. It also ranks fixes for you, such as a page to write, a problem on your site, a video to make or another site to get listed on.
You can act on many of those fixes inside HubSpot's content and social tools. AEO sits in HubSpot's AI lineup next to the Breeze AI agents.
Why should a growing business care what AI says?
Buyers use AI tools to build short lists. If you're not on the list, you never hear about the sale.
The short list gets made before the first call
A buyer asks an AI tool who they should call for what you sell. It names a few companies. If yours isn't one, they may never visit your site.
AI tools repeat what other sites say
The answers lean on directories, review sites, news and forums. If those sites describe you wrong or not at all, the AI does too.
Your pages may be hard for AI to read
Key details locked in PDFs, vague service or category pages and missing FAQs make it hard for an AI tool to tell what you do.
AI answers about you go unchecked
Most companies check their Google rankings. Few have any idea what ChatGPT says about them. HubSpot AEO tracks it week by week.

- No separate bill for AEO
- The better fit if marketing already lives in HubSpot
From buyer questions to fixes, step by step
You give us access, a list of what you sell and someone who knows what buyers ask. You get tracking on the questions that matter and a ranked list of fixes.
-
Find the questions buyers ask
We talk to sales and read your inbound leads and chats. From that, we list the questions a buyer would type into an AI tool. Prompts that sound like your own ad copy don't help.
-
Pick the prompts worth tracking
You only get so many prompts. We spend them on the offers that make you money and the markets you serve.
-
Set the baseline
We record where you show up today, which competitors get named and which sites the AI tools quote.
-
Sort the fixes
HubSpot ranks its own suggestions. We check each one against what sales needs and drop the ones that won't reach a buyer.
-
Do the work
We fix key pages, write pages that answer buyer questions, clean up site problems and get you listed on the outside sites AI tools trust. We track what changes after each fix.
What prompts should a business track?
Good prompts sound like a buyer with a problem. Here's a short mix from different kinds of companies. You'll find more on our industry pages.
- Which accounting firms near me work with small online stores?
- Best payroll software for a company with 50 employees
- Who makes commercial convection ovens for busy restaurants?
- Where can I buy modest dresses online that ship fast?
- Which IT support companies offer flat monthly plans?
What HubSpot AEO won't do for you
It pays off when buyers research before they reach out and describe what you sell in plain words. That covers most companies we meet, from service firms to makers to online brands.
AEO tells you where you stand and what to fix. It doesn't do the fixing. Someone still has to write new pages, get key details out of PDFs and reach out to other sites. It only checks ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, so it won't cover every place buyers ask. And since it's still in beta, expect features to change.
Our guides cover this topic too. For the full service, our AI agents and AI search page explains how we make your site easy for AI tools to read.
Tracking hundreds of questions at once
HubSpot AEO tracks a set number of prompts. Some companies want more. They want to test hundreds of buyer questions, compare answers by region, or line up AI mentions against their own sales. We build that as a custom AI workflow and report it next to your HubSpot dashboards.
HubSpot AEO questions
Can we try HubSpot AEO before paying for it?
Yes. HubSpot offers a free trial of the standalone tool with a small set of prompts, and you don't need a card to start. After that it's a monthly fee, with extra cost for more prompts or more brands. It's also included in Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise. Check HubSpot's pricing page for current numbers.
Can we buy AEO without the rest of HubSpot?
Yes. You can buy it on its own. The Marketing Hub version adds fix suggestions based on your CRM data, and you can act on them in HubSpot's content and social tools.
Which AI tools does it track?
ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. It doesn't track every AI tool your buyers might use.
Is HubSpot AEO out of beta?
Not yet. HubSpot still labels it beta, so expect features and limits to change.
What's a prompt in HubSpot AEO?
A prompt is a question you want to track, like "Who's the best bookkeeping service for small businesses in Ohio?" The tool checks how AI tools answer it and whether they name you.
How is AEO different from SEO?
SEO is about ranking in search results. AEO is about being named in the answer an AI tool writes. Much of the work overlaps, like clear, specific pages and good FAQs, but AI tools also lean heavily on what other sites say about you.
Which fixes tend to show results first?
Fixes to your own site, like clear service or product pages and answer pages, are in your control and can be done quickly. Getting other sites to mention you takes longer. We look at your starting point and tell you what we see, without promising a date.
