Klaviyo agency for Shopify and DTC brands

A Klaviyo agency that checks the revenue against your Shopify orders

We build and run your Klaviyo flows, campaigns and texts. Then we test how much of the revenue Klaviyo reports would have happened without the email, so you know what the program really earns.

Free, 30 minutes, and you'll leave with at least one clear next step.

What does a Klaviyo agency actually do?

A Klaviyo agency writes, designs, sets up and tests the emails and texts your store sends from Klaviyo, then reports on what they earn. Most of the money comes from flows, the messages that send on their own when someone signs up, browses, leaves a cart, buys or goes quiet. Campaigns, the sends you schedule for launches and sales, sit on top.

We do all of that. The part we add is the check. Klaviyo credits a sale to an email if the shopper opened or clicked it within a set window. By default that's five days (Klaviyo Help). Apple Mail opens many emails on its own, so an "open" doesn't always mean a person read it. And a loyal customer who was going to reorder anyway still counts as email revenue. So we put Klaviyo's numbers next to your Shopify orders and test the flows that matter most.

The problems we see

What we usually find when we open a Klaviyo account

These come up on almost every account review we run for Shopify brands.

The welcome flow still offers a code from three launches ago

It was set up once and never touched. Products in the emails are sold out or retired, and the discount no longer matches the site.

The list is full of people who never open

Klaviyo prices its plans by active profiles, so people who never open can push you onto a bigger plan. They also hurt inbox placement for everyone else.

Campaigns go to the whole list every time

A first-time buyer and a ten-order customer get the same email. Unsubscribes rise, and the best customers get trained to wait for a sale.

Flow revenue looks huge and goes unquestioned

The dashboard says email drives a big share of sales. No one has ever held a group back to see how many of those orders would have come in anyway.

Klaviyo's report next to the checked number

What Klaviyo shows by default

  • Revenue from anyone who opened or clicked within the attribution window
  • Opens that include automatic opens from Apple Mail
  • Every order credited, including ones later returned
  • Flow and campaign revenue reported separately from your ads

What we add on top

  • A holdout test on the biggest flows, so you see the orders email added
  • Clicks and orders used to judge sends, with opens as a rough guide
  • Returns and refunds from Shopify taken out of email revenue
  • Email, SMS and ad results in one daily view against total Shopify sales

How do you test whether a flow really adds sales?

We hold a small random share of people back from the flow and compare their orders with everyone who got it. If the group that got the welcome series buys at a clearly higher rate, the difference is what the flow earns. If the two groups buy at about the same rate, the flow is taking credit for sales that would have happened anyway, and we rebuild it.

We start with the flows that report the most revenue, usually welcome and cart reminders. Each test gets enough time and enough people to read clearly. The same idea, applied to ads, is on our incrementality testing page. Returns come out before we compare, using the method in our guide to measuring results with returns.

Case study

Email, texts and ads run as one program

For First Stop Fashion, a New York streetwear brand, we run email flows, texts and ads together, so each drop reaches buyers on more than one channel. Online sales more than doubled in a year.

Is Klaviyo always the right tool?

For most brands that sell online only, yes. Klaviyo has deep Shopify data and strong flow tools, with SMS in the same place. It gets harder when email is one piece of a bigger process, like wholesale accounts, a service team or a retail store.

We've also moved a brand off Klaviyo. Charlie Hustle wanted email, texts and customer service in one place, so it moved all three into HubSpot. That made sense for a team with a busy service desk. We'll tell you plainly which setup fits yours. If you keep both tools, we set rules for which one emails whom.

How it works

The first six weeks in your Klaviyo account

Sending domain settings, the sunset flow, form timing and the Shopify data sync.

  3. Weeks 3 to 5

    Rebuild the money flows

New copy and design for welcome, cart, browse and post-purchase, with a holdout group set on the biggest one.

  4. Week 6

    Calendar and first report

A campaign plan for the next quarter and a plain-English report on what email and SMS earned after returns.

FAQ

Klaviyo agency questions

Do you take over our Klaviyo account or work in our existing one?

We work in your account. You keep ownership of the account, the list and every template. We get user access, and you can remove it any time.

Why is Klaviyo revenue higher than what we see in Shopify?

Klaviyo credits a sale to any email or text a shopper opened, clicked or received within its attribution window, and your ad platforms may claim the same order. Shopify counts each order once. We use Shopify as the true total and test the biggest flows with holdout groups.

Can you lower our Klaviyo bill?

Often, yes. Klaviyo prices its plans by active profiles. Suppressing people who haven't engaged in months shrinks that count, which can let you move to a smaller plan. Check Klaviyo's pricing page for the current tiers.

What share of store revenue should come from Klaviyo?

It depends on your category, how often people reorder and how much you spend on ads. A high share can mean strong flows, or it can mean email is taking credit for orders that would have come anyway. We look at the tested number, not the share.

Will you rebuild every flow at once?

No. We start with the flows that touch the most people and money, usually welcome and cart reminders, and rebuild the rest in order. Each one goes live only after you approve it.

Do you design emails in Klaviyo's editor or code them by hand?

Mostly in Klaviyo's editor, so your team can edit them later without a developer. We hand-code only where a layout needs it.
